How to Get Kim Kardashian's Cover Look
from Lucky Magazine
Kim Kardashian is a sight in blue on the cover of Lucky. Her sequined skirt would be just right for anytime you want to add some sparkle to your look. If you want to create KK’s style at home, then look no further.

Style expert Jenny Wu says the designer cover clothing and accessories include a shirt from A.L.C., DKNY skirt and a 3.1 Phillip Lim belt. The similar inspiration she recommends for less: A James Perse white deep V-neck rib t-shirt and a ZARA skirt.

Tutorial provided by celebrity stylist Arturo Swayze of NYC:
Cut: Kim's cut is what I call the classic model cut. A carved out frame with the shortest part cut right under the lips. The rest of the hair is basically one length except for some light layering from the crown. This cut allows you to keep as much hair as possible from root to end, giving your hair ultimate girth. The subtle layers that lay on top are light enough to give your hair the full layered look. But looks are deceiving -- don't go overboard on the layers or it will end up making your hair thinner at the ends.

Color: Medium brown highlights are what is bringing out the reddish tones in her hair, which is a dark brunette with a base color of red. When you lighten a bit, it brings out those natural reddish tones. Don't go too light, otherwise your hair will start looking brassy, and that becomes a lot of maintenance to correct on a monthly basis.

Prep: For this look you want as much body as possible. The best shampoo for achieving this is Kerastase Volumactive shampoo and conditioner. Add conditioner to your hair starting at the ends and working your way up, but don't put any conditioner in your roots or on your scalp. You do not want limp hair on top for this look.

Style: Getting really good texture in the hair is important before you even start blowdrying. For really full hair like Kim’s, I add a lot of Volumactive Mousse by Kerastase on wet hair -- the size of a baseball is perfect. Comb the product through your hair for even distribution. Blow out only the sides and the top, using a large boar-hair bristle brush until smooth.

Pro Tip: Always dry the roots in the opposite direction as you want them to lay, this will give you ultimate body around your face.

Dry the rest of the hair fully. Apply another baseball size of the mousse (yes, it's a lot of mousse, but for this look, you're going to need it.) Use the dryer again to dry and brush out the product.Next, using a medium sized curling iron, curl your hair vertically, wrapping the hair around the barrel moving away from your face until your whole head is completed. Let the curls cool, then brush out lightly.

Finish: To finish this look, I would use some spray shine like Huile Céleste by Kerastase. This product is very concentrated so shake it well, spray a couple shots into your hands, rub them together, then run your hands through your hair starting at the bottom. If there is too much product on your hands, you don’t want to apply right on the top and end up looking like you need to shampoo your hair! Finish off with some Shaper Fierce hairspray by Sebastian and you're ready to make the boys and girls drool over your hair!

Makeup
Tutorial by celebrity makeup artist and skincare expert Marcella Cardinal:

Prep: Well-hydrated skin is a must for a flawless makeup finish. Regardless of skin type, most people don’t want to feel oily during the day, so I recommend prepping the skin with Motives Skintelligence pH Skin Normalizer. This way, you’ll remove excess oils and dead skin, without stripping your skin of its very important lipid barrier. Follow with Motives’ Weightless Moisturizer. It restores hydration without shine, won’t cause breakouts and it protects with a light SPF.
Brows: Begin by cleaning up your eyebrows by tweezing strays (below and above the eyebrow) and trimming long hairs. Then, with feathery strokes, fill in the eyebrows with a pencil that matches or is one shade lighter than your hair color, to even color and fill in any spaces. Finish the eyebrows by brushing through them to blend and soften. This ensures they look defined but remain natural.

Face: Apply a lightweight foundation to even skin tone, and apply concealer to brighten the eyes. Set everything with a pressed, translucent powder, such as MAC’s Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. It will buff out your skin to minimize the appearance or larger pores and fine lines.

Eyes: Kim’s signature is her exotic and dramatic use of eyeliner and mascara. To prep the eyes, use a nude-colored eyeshadow to even out the color of your eyelids and add some depth. Softly buff this color on with an eyeshadow brush, covering the entire lid and going slightly up onto the brow bone.

Leave a little space under the eyebrows to add a highlighting color, which will lift the brows and give dimension and life to the eyes. The highlight color should be a slightly pearlized cream color, such as Oyster Eye Shadow by Smashbox.

Line your bottom lashes with a light brown or taupe color. This gives the eyes definition without looking like eyeliner. Line the top lids with a thick, water-resistant eyeliner, like M.A.C. Penultimate Eyeliner.

Pro Tip: Be sure to line from the innermost corner of the eyes, gradually thickening as you move toward the outer corner for a cat-like look.

Another of Kim’s must-have items? A light wash of white eyeliner on the inside rim of your bottom lashes.Finish with two to three coats of mascara on your top and bottom lashes. Use a smudge-proof mascara. I find YSL’s Volume Effet Faux Cils is the best mascara for eye drama.

Cheeks: Keep the cheeks very soft and subtle with a barely there pink. To best highlight the cheekbones, smile and lightly dust your blush with a fluffy, rounded brush in a backward motion toward your hair line.

Lips: Finish with glossy, subtle lips. A perfect color to bring out your natural pink is Motives’ Full Color Lip Shine in Tease. No lip liner necessary!
