Color: Ask your stylist to leave your roots more natural for added depth, and dye your ends extra light for this blonde bombshell effect. Make sure you stick to no more than three shades of color difference in your hair to keep from jarring the eye.

Style: Get curls like Britney's by blowing hair out the night before. In the a.m., use Bumble and Bumble Does It All Hairspray and wrap over-sized sections of your hair onto hot rollers.

Pro Tip: Create diagonal sections, all below the ear, for the best movement.

Finish: Let your hair cool completely and ruffle with your fingers. Rub a little dab of Bumble and Bumble Styling Wax between the palms of your hands and selectively distribute it to sections of your hair to add shine and separation.

Makeup

Internationally-trained skincare expert and makeup pro Marcella Cardinal has made up celebrity faces at Emmy and Oscar lounges. Take her suggestions to help you get Britney's look, that is all about smoky, sexy eyes. You can stick with basics from your makeup bag for this look, or invest in some statement makeup to enhance your special event looks.

Brows: Well-defined eyebrows will frame your face, balancing the strong impact of your dramatic eye.

Eyes: Using a wide-angled brush, apply a cream shadow as eyeliner such as Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Antique Gold and set it with a dry eye shadow like Bobbi Brown Navy Eye Shadow for maximum staying power.

Slightly wetting the bristles of your makeup brush and removing the excess moisture on a paper towel will help you apply the darker, dry shadow. You don't have to worry about making a thin, perfect line since this look is smoky and bold.

Connect your liner on just the outer corners of your eyes, leaving the inner corners with only the lighter color to avoid "raccoon effect." Using dark shadows but avoiding pure black will give you the drama and definition you crave without being too harsh. Finish by lining the inside of your eyes with black liner, add a couple of coats with your favorite mascara and you're ready to go.

Face: Britney's face, cheeks and lips are made up in soft neutrals to match the honey undertones in her hair.

Style

Even at nearly $4K, Britney's Matthew Williamson sequined-feathered number is a sell-out. If you have Britney's style, but not her big bucks, an Ombre Sequin Prom Dress inspiration from Topshop offers a cute substitute in sizes 2 to 12 with an open back and a flare skirt.

Looking to spend even less? Try a handmade sequined dress, designed in southern California at Party Dresses by Jasmine. The line's one-shoulder mini brings together the tones of the original cover look, in a form-fitting silhouette that's a fraction of the original's cost.
